Theme: God is the ultimate reality; seek and worship God in spirit and in truth.

An extremely important and liberating Truth needs articulation to clarify grievous misconceptions about the nature and universality of the Creator, which have hindered a very sizeable gullible fraction of humanity, numbering several hundred millions, from actualizing their true relationship with the Creator. There is only one God; the Creator, Sustainer and Sovereign LORD of the Universe. However, since there are numerous languages in the world, the Creator also has numerous names such as Tamuno, Tamarau, Temeowei, Woyingi, Ayiba, Olorun, Chukwu and God. Thus the God of the Ijaws (my people) is also the God of the Yorubas, Hausas, Ibos, Ibibios, Efiks, Kanuris, Urhobos, Itsekiris, Edos, Tivs, Bantus, Zulus, Europeans, Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Koreans, Arabs, Jews and all other peoples and nations of the world!! Therefore, oftentimes, the argument as to which God or whose God a person believes in is simply a cloak for an anti-God Spirit that refuses to acknowledge or submit to the Supreme Being!

The oneness and orderliness of the universe, amply demonstrated by the structural and functional unity of its component planets, stars and galaxies, render polytheism absolutely illogical and untenable. It is absolutely improbable that one god created the day while another created the night, or that one god created the sun, another created the moon, yet another created the earth while other gods created the other planets! If it were so, the universe, at best, would have been in extreme chaos, and at worst, never have existed, as the different gods battle for supremacy and influence!

Religion is the inevitable relationship or interaction between man and his Creator. Since there is only one God, there can only be one true relationship with God, and ipso facto, only one true religion!! The “One True Religion” was certainly the religion that was practiced in the beginning by Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel. However, over the ages, occasioned by the fall of man, the “One True Religion” has been variously perverted; necessitating intervention of the Creator to return mankind to true communion with him.

Man’s propensity to pervert the true religion (his true relationship with God) is best exemplified by the swift slide of the Israelites to idolatry immediately after meeting with God and receiving the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai; just days after being supernaturally delivered from slavery in Egypt by dint of the Ten Plagues; just days after God miraculously divided the waters of the Red Sea to enable them cross the sea on dry ground while the Egyptian soldiers, chariots and horsemen that pursued after them were drowned and annihilated by the waters which flowed over them. “When the people (Israelites) saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. …”  So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” – Exodus 32: 1 – 8.

Another attestation to the Israelites deviation from the true worship of God is chronicled as follows: “Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of a hundred and ten. … After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals. … . They followed and worshipped various gods of the peoples around them.” – Judges 2: 6 – 12.

The “Ijaw Religion” or “Pure Ijaw Culture” is incontestably purely and totally biblical. However, just like the Israelites, and indeed like all other peoples, the Ijaws have had various perversions of their originally pure religion. If the “Ijaw Religion” or any other religion of the world is purified of its perversions, the distillate will be the original pure “One True Religion”!

Unarguably, the Creator has the unique and exclusive right, privilege, authority and prerogative to determine the right relationship that should exist between him and mankind that he created. This truth is aptly proclaimed in the following excerpts of the Scriptures: “The God who made the world and everything in it is the lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. …… From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. …. . We are his offspring. Therefore, since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone – an image made by man’s design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.” Acts 17: 24 – 31.

Most importantly, Jesus declared: “God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.” - John 4: 24. Jesus also declares: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14: 6. God corroborated this momentous claim of Jesus at the epochal Transfiguration of Jesus: “After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. … While he (Peter) was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”” – Matthew 17: 1 – 5. This is epochal because, herein, God commands us all to follow Jesus; thereby confirming that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through him. God commands us all (all mankind) to follow Jesus, when he commands us to: “Listen to him!” “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3: 16.

Furthermore, and very importantly, Jesus declares: “Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?” Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” – Matthew 7: 21 – 23.

God judges the intents and purposes of every heart regarding everything we do! God cannot be fooled or mocked by our hollow outward false and deceptive professions and acts of piety! It is written: “The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.”– Isaiah 29:13. And again, the Scriptures testify pointedly as follows: “When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’S anointed stands here before the LORD.” But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16: 6 – 7.

In this regard, it is pertinent to give the following testimony: In a vision on Saturday the 17^th of October 1998, God took me, in the Spirit, to Lagos City in Nigeria and showed me numerous churches adjacent to one another on the main streets. Three big churches were located at the corner of a street. I saw numerous Christians clad in colorful African attire, streaming to the churches. The LORD took me inside one of the churches where prayers were being said loudly. The pastor and his wife were holding hands and were weeping loudly and emotionally as they repeatedly called on the Name of God and Jesus. Then the LORD told me: “They are acting.” I was extremely sad to know this!

A few years ago, during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s first term in office as civilian president of Nigeria, God revealed to me that Obasanjo was doing some wrong things and was not leading Nigeria rightly. However, when Nigerians told him so, Obasanjo stubbornly refused to listen. Instead, he wrongly declared that what he was doing was what God had asked him to do! In the vision, I told Obasanjo that God was not pleased with him because he was leading the country on the wrong path and that God wanted him to change to the right course, but Obasanjo justified himself and refused to repent. Of course, we all know that Obasanjo is a self-proclaimed born-again Christian!!

And in a vision on Wednesday the 6^th of February 2002, the LORD took me in the Spirit to see the renowned televangelist, Benny Hinn preaching and “performing miracles” in a crusade attended by a very large crowd. He also provided a lot of food for the attendees but, somehow, I couldn’t feast with his followers. Then the LORD enabled me to see Benny Hinn stage-managing a walk in the air! He profaned the Name of Jesus as he shouted Hallelujah and pretended to be walking in the air at about 15 feet above the ground. However, in reality, he was suspended like a muppet with rather invisible strings tied to his limbs and a huge tree. I was extremely disgusted at the profanity and rebuked him saying: “I thought, like most unsuspecting people, that you were a true man of God but you have shamelessly demonstrated and proven yourself to be false.”

Let us take to heart what God warns in the third of the Ten Commandments: “You must not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.” - Exodus 20: 7 and Deuteronomy 5: 11. Furthermore, it is written: Judgement shall begin in the house of God. “Therefore, let us worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire!” – Hebrews 12: 28. It cannot be over-emphasized that God is never impressed with our “Hollywood Religiosity”!!!

However, we must not be discouraged or deterred from seeking, worshipping, obeying, following and proclaiming God; by our rightful disenchantment with the false servants of God and false religiosity!! The condemners of false religiosity must invariably be preachers and practitioners of true religiosity!! Otherwise, they would be hypocrites! And such hypocrisy is unforgivable!!

Religion is a two-way relationship between the Creator and mankind, just as marriage is the relationship between a husband and his wife. Religion is not a one-dimensional relationship; it is two-dimensional; God interacts with mankind just as a husband interacts with his wife.

The scriptures testify that God had regular fellowship (“physical” and social interaction) with Adam and Eve from their creation to, at least, shortly after they sinned and disobeyed God. “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” – Genesis 3: 8 – 10. Even Cain who killed his brother Abel, had interaction with God: “Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”– Genesis 4: 9.

Just as marriage can be marred by infidelity or other infractions, resulting in estrangement between a husband and his wife, so also can the relationship between the Creator and mankind be marred by man’s sin, disobedience and rebellion! It is obvious that mankind has become so estranged and distant from God, because of mankind’s sinfulness, disobedience and rebellion, that man now denies the existence of the Creator who created him!

Adam met and spoke with God so he could never have said that God did not exist. The same is true for all those who have seen God and spoken with God!!

Throughout the ages, God has had fellowship and interaction with mankind, as with Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Caleb, Deborah, Gideon, Samuel, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Mary (the blessed mother of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ), Joseph (earthly father of Jesus), John the Baptist, Apostle Peter, John the Revelator, Apostle Paul (Saul of Tarsus), and many unknown prophets, men and women.

The truth is that God speaks to everybody, but not only to the prophets! However, some people (most people), by selfish desires, pride, arrogance and foolishness, refuse to tune their hearts and incline their ears to hear God. As a result, they don’t hear God even when he speaks to them very loudly!! How many times have we failed to hear what was being said to us by someone who was standing very close to us? We didn’t hear simply because we were not listening, not because the person was not talking loud enough or clear enough! We were distracted and were not paying attention. For example, there are many radio and television stations and channels that continuously broadcast thousands of news programs and other programs. We can hear a particular radio or television program only if we tune to that particular radio or television program. If we choose to listen to the CBS evening world news, and tune to it, we would forgo listening to the evening world news being broadcast at the same time by ABC, NBC, CNN and all other such television stations. Similarly, we would not hear God if we refuse to tune our hearts and incline our ears to him!!! It is crystal clear therefore that every person chooses whether or not to listen to God, hear God or hear from God.

Jesus, the good Shepherd, declares: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. – John 10: 27. Jesus also declares: “He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” – John 8: 47.

How then do we listen to God? "The LORD said to Moses: Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: Be holy because I the LORD your God, am holy." - Leviticus 19: 1 - 2. Furthermore, Jesus said: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” – Matthew 5: 6. My people, the Ijaws “pomo” (sanctify) themselves before going to war and when they sin. When God wanted to meet with the assembly of the Israelites in the wilderness, he asked them to be clean (righteous and holy) because he is superlatively clean (righteous and holy) so that his cleanliness (righteousness and holiness) will not be compromised when he meets with them! If we were invited to meet with the Queen in Buckingham Palace, meet with the President at the White House or attend a wedding, we would dress cleanly, honorably, elegantly and gracefully. Similarly, we must be clean (righteous and holy) so that we can consummate our wonderful relationship with our righteous and holy Creator who loves us with an everlasting love and longs to bestow on us outstanding eternal glory and riches that this ephemeral world can never give us!

Jesus declared: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” – Matthew 5: 8. How can we see God if he is formless? The scriptures testify emphatically that God created man in his image and likeness: “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness…  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” - Genesis 1: 26 – 27.  “The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.” – Psalm 99: 1. “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.” – Isaiah 40: 22.

How then can we see God? Can any great scientific or technological equipment, such as the Hubbell Telescope, enable mankind see God? No!! As already shown above, Jesus declared: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” – Matthew 5: 8. In this regard, the Scriptures command us thus: “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” – Hebrews 12: 14. It is also written: “Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.” – Psalm 24: 3 – 4.

Prophet Isaiah testifies eloquently as follows: “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the LORD seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:

            “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices, the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” He said, “Go and tell this people:

“Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.” Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”

Then I said, “For how long, O Lord?” And he answered:

“Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged, until the LORD has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken. And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.” – Isaiah 6: 1 – 13.

Prophet Ezekiel’s corroborative testimony is as follows: “In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens opened and I saw visions of God. … “I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north – an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. …. Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked like an expanse, sparkling like ice, and awesome. … When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. Then there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads as they stood with lowered wings. Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire, and brilliant light surrounded him. Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell face down, and I heard the voice of one speaking. - Ezekiel 1: 1 – 28. “He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.” As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. He said: “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day. … Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll, which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe. And he said to me, “Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth and he gave me the scroll to eat. …. Then he said to me: “Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them. … I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house.”– Ezekiel 2: 1 – 9.

Daniel, the prophet, also gave this outstanding testimony: “As I looked, “thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousands times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. … I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. The other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed to live for a period of time. In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” – Daniel 7: 9 – 14.

Furthermore, John the Revelator testifies as follows: “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. … In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. … Day and night they never stop saying:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” – Revelation 4: 1- 11.

Jesus declared: “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said, I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” – John 8: 54 – 56. Jesus also declared: “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” – Luke 10: 22. With utmost humility, and honor and glory to God, I attest that this particular scripture has been fulfilled in me; as shown in the excerpt titled: “THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE: STANDING BEFORE GOD AT GOD'S THRONE IN HEAVEN”, from my LETTER OF TESTIMONY, dated 20^th of June 1997 titled: “THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY REIGNS.” The said excerpt is as follows:

THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE: STANDING BEFORE GOD AT GOD’S THRONE IN HEAVEN

At dawn one morning, about September 1995, while in bed at my former residence at St. Lucien Road, Blue Range, Diego Martin, Trinidad, I was held by my left hand by an Angel of God and taken up to THE THRONE OF THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IN HEAVEN. In full consciousness and at a tremendous speed, I zoomed up to heaven fully aware of the downward pull of gravity. I marveled as I saw the globular planet Earth grew progressively smaller with increase in the distance of separation until it disappeared out of sight during my ascension to Heaven.

Miraculously, the Angel and I ascended through the expansive vacuum of the Universe, and through a sea-deep layer of crystal clear water, upward onto THE THRONE OF GOD, which is suspended at the uppermost extremity of the Universe. As I stood at the cliff-like edge at the Entrance to THE THRONE OF GOD, I was terrified of falling off but the Angel that took me up smiled at me and assured me that I was safe and would not fall off.

Jesus Christ, adorned in a crown and a robe of sparkling jewels, was seated majestically at the ENTRANCE OF THE THRONE OF GOD situated at the front of the right side of THE THRONE OF GOD, shielding THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY from view. Jesus embraced me, patted me on the back and welcomed me, and asked the Angel to take me inside THE THRONE OF THE FATHER. Another Angel who was stationed with Jesus also spoke with me to assure me. The Angel then took me inside THE THRONE OF GOD. I was extremely amazed and bewildered by the experience.

When I overcame my bewilderment, I looked straight ahead and saw THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, THE HOLINESS OF HOLINESS, seated between the Cherubim, with absolute magnificence, majesty and indescribable brilliance, wearing a crown of brilliantly luminous pure crystals on His Head and a brilliantly luminous robe of assorted pure crystals. His body was similarly pure, luminous and brilliant! The Cherubim are two Special Angels standing bestride THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY and both facing GOD who is seated in the centre. The Cherubim are humanoid and each has two pairs of wings, and they cover their bodies, from above their waists down to their feet, with their lower pair of wings. The Cherubim beamed with smile as they gestured to me, with great honor and godly pride, to look and see God in all his glory!! A huge square wall stood at the back of THE THRONE OF GOD. The Seat of GOD rests directly on this wall, which shines gloriously with the colors of the rainbow, which appear as adjoining bands of the arc of a circle. Behind the Wall, and surrounding the entire THRONE OF GOD, is an indescribable but sharply demarcated Canopy of Darkness. In sharp contrast, the inside of THE THRONE OF GOD is brightly and brilliantly illuminated by the glory and radiance of God. There is no other source of light. God is awesomely, superlatively and unbelievably beautiful! The glory and radiance of God filled me with measureless and unspeakable peace and joy so that I did not want to leave the Presence of God. I was so astonished at the luminosity and radiance of even God’s shoes that I fixed my gaze at the shoe on His right foot for a long time. The floor, walls and roof of THE THRONE OF GOD are made of pure golden stone. Absolutely nothing could be seen beyond God. It is incomprehensible! God is the ultimate reality!!

Suddenly, God pointed His right hand at me and declared to me with authority: “You have been called!” I answered God spontaneously, saying: “I don’t deserve it! I don’t deserve it!” But THE LORD GOD assured me thus: “It is alright. Don’t worry.” The Cherubim and the Angel that took me up smiled at me and also declared to me with assurance: “It is alright. Don’t worry.”

The Angel of God then took me outside THE THRONE OF GOD and brought me down back to earth. I was fully conscious of all the experience of zooming down (descending) back to earth at the same tremendous speed with which we ascended to Heaven. I woke up as I returned into my body, experiencing great heaviness. I marveled at the phenomenal experience and glorified God for His great love and singular honor. It is the ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE!!!
