The recent appointment of Okiro as the new IG is a reflection of how the Nigerian state regards the Igbos. Ogbonnaya Onovo, the most qualified and due for the job was denied this position because of the injustice and hatred for a particular set of people in this Nigeria.
I once read in the newspapers where one writer said that whenever any other Nigerian is in trouble, the due process and whatever is the obstacle will be manipulated so that he or she will get justice. When any Igbo man, who avoids trouble, falls into one due to the social and economic traps set across his way, due process will be theorized to make sure he is denied justice.
Ehindero was supposed to retire one and half years ago but was allowed to stay beyond because of the evil act he has been assigned to deliver in 14th and 21st April. Ribadu has been promoted many times above his mates because they want to make him IG.
Furthermore, in the present PDP zoning formula in which the South-East has been reduced to a major minority, yet Ahmadu Ali does not want to hand over to an acting chairman from the zone when all the other zones have got their positions. Jostlers for the position from the zone have been admonished to wait for due process in this coming November even when Ali assumed the position months before November convention some years ago after forcing Audu Ogbeh to resign at gunpoint.
Looking at the present appointments made by President Yar' adua, the Igbos are completely lost. Obasanjo spent billions in building and commissioning dams, power stations, good roads, airports, etc., in the North and Southwest of Nigeria. Recently before he left, he sold refineries, houses, etc., to himself and his friends from the same part of this country. Nothing to show for in the South-East that has supported him since 1999. I ask; is this hatred or bad belle? Yet people like Andy Uba, Rochas Okorocha, Ike Nwachukwu, Sam Egwu, Joe Irukwu and Achuzia, Iwuanyanwu, Onyema Ugochukwu, Abaribe and their likes remain shameless. They don't know the gravity of their sabotage.
Igbos are asking questions, the next generation will ask questions and the unborn-generation will continue to ask questions!
