Dear Readers:

As you must have noticed, our dear websites: "www.saharareporters.com" + "www.saharareporter.com" + "www.saharareports.com" has been shut down.
Since we published the story effectively and undisputably linking President Obasanjo to the Andy Uba money laundering scam, he has used every means available to get back at us.

You are all aware that he has been using a lawyer based in Maryland, USA to harass our publication, but since we sent an appropriate response commensurate with his legal threat, they are possibly up to other tactics.

First, our site was shut down on the day we published the Andy Uba story for two hours.

However, we restored the site as soon as was possible.

Yesterday, just as President Obasanjo admitted to accepting close $46,000 "gift" for his Obasanjo Farms from Andy Uba And Loretta Mabinton through his "International Legal Counsel on Persoanl Matters" Mr. Kunle Fagbenle, our webhosting company complained to us that our website was 'abusing their server and using their cpu at 100%' and as such had to shut down SAHARAREPORTERS because it was rendering others sites on their server 'inoperable'.

Again, these are technical jargons that points to one direction only: There is a conspiracy to put our site out of existence.

However, this will not happen, as such we will be working round the clock to resume our activities online ASAP.

We seeek your understanding and patience during this time and seriously implore all lovers of transparency, accountability and good governance who may be willing to share their technical knowledge on how to reinforce our online presence to please contact us at saharareports@aol.com or call our publisher at 1-347 489 3765.
Ultimately we will need our own server and SAHARAREPORTERS will appreciate possible suggestions and dedicated support from our teeming readers.

WE WILL SOON BE BACK!

Even common NIA without the kind of traffic Sahara must be getting had to be moved to a dedicated server. Sites get too busy and therefore use up an unequal share of resources. Its normal. I don't see a conspiracy in this...YET!

Dear Readers of SAHARAREPORTERS:

We are grateful to you all for the immense support and advice that has poured into our mail box since we sent out an e-mail explaining our travails less than two hours ago.

It is amazing and almost overwhelming how much our countrymen and women, plus other non-Nigerians really support our unflinching commitment to changing Nigeria with our undiluted reports and online documetation activities.

Our technical crew are considering all forms of alternatives to gettting us back online soon, including restoring our original content unharmed.

In the various responses, a lot of you has asked how SAHARAREPORTERS can be assisted financially to get the necessary capacity to resume unhindered operations. Yes, it is true that we need it but our particular brand of work constrains us from seeking direct funding from the public because we do not want to compromize our content or embark upon any form of censorship based upon sympathy or patronage.

However, we respect that there are genuine individuals out there who wish to see a different Nigeria just because they know we deserve better than we currently have. We are therefore constrained to encourage such individuals and supporters to feel free to make their donations to Saharareporters, if they have a paypal account (www.paypal.com), all you need to do is send your donations to (saharareports@aol.com) through paypal. Such donations will go towards acquiring a more secure and efficient dedicated server for saharareporters.

Once again, we are immensely grateful to all of you persons of good conscience, we are already in talks with several technical persons to resolve the problem temporarily.

-SAHARAREPORTERS TEAM

I didn't see the conspiracy neither! I thought, perhaps their server could not handle the amount of traffic they generated! Do server people charge more if the traffic flow increases? The paypal thing though, reminds me of a number that begins with a 4, and ends with a 9 (or was that a 1?)! Anyone thinking they can't pay for their server too?

Zadok, I suppose if you want this site flooded, we could email them to post some of their stuff here! However, Quality, not Quantity being the motto, perhaps consider.

Do server people charge more if the traffic flow increases?Yes, they do, depending on your package. But when it is time for you to move, you gotta move. If there are 6 of you on a server and your site is using up 80% of the resources, you make the other sites go through hell.

That said, I don't know why you think their need for another host is 419. I only said the server being down may not be OBJ and the gang at work...

It was the nice plea for money at the end, that made me think so. Do know that I do not know - it is merely my opinion, which even I know is based on ignorance; I know nothing about these guys!

Dear Readers:

We are pleased to inform you that your electronic news reports-www.saharareporters.com- is back online! Last week we suffered a sudden attack (unexpected loss of service with our web host company) for reasons that are still being investigated, as explained before, we were told that our site( www.saharareporters.com) was "abusing the server resources and rendering other website co-located on the same server inoperable" even though we were not running foul of any contractual obligation(s), we immediately accepted to move our site to a "SEMI -DEDICATED SERVER" and promptly paid the company to restore our services. To our surprise, this respite only lasted for a few hours, as sometimes last Tuesday, after two hours, "down" went Saharareporters again with the web host company rehashing the same story about "server abuse", subsequent other efforts to get the company to act upon our new status met stone-walls and excuses too numerous to mention. Our service tickets went unattended to for days and several promises to address our problem was not carried out until we opened a fresh complaint in which we made it clear that we would seek legal redress through appropriate US authorities, it was after this mild threat was lodged that our host company responded and acted in restoring SAHARA REPORTERS earlier today!

Our initial travail prompted our team to reach out to our readers and supporters, clearly, we had become a scourge on the super-corrupt resource comptrollers in Nigeria who have made a habit of deceiving our people about their cleanliness (- (Saharareporters has since served as the "LaundryMart" where their dirty linens were washed, the E-Library was the public library where we kept their "cooked-books" for the public to read) . Our further pressure on the web host company led to a revelation that our website was harboring a "Code" that was constantly consuming our resources and thus leading to over-use of our resources with our host company. We are yet to find out the source of this particular Da Vinci "code", except that a suspicious website constantly and repeatedly sent e-mails through our contact page to the Webmaster even when the website was down. We have asked our host company and technical crew to investigate this matter thoroughly so as to get to the root of the matter.

However, must not fail to profusely thank those of you who reached out to us with technical support, advice, kind donations as well as cash donations totaling $75 from two individuals in the UK. Quite honestly on the cash end of our request, we were hesitant to go full route for reasons earlier stated in our earlier mails/announcements. We were approached by many persons to make cash donations through other means than "Paypal" but due to our strong commitment to openness and transparency, we could not accept such other means especially if such cannot undoubtedly enable the public to look into our records in an easy manner as the "Paypal" method could afford us. To these patriots we tender our unreserved apologies for the unease such rejection might have caused.

Also, we are excited at the response from readers as well as concerned groups who wanted to take up the attack on saharareporters as a freedom of speech issue. We totally appreciate these genuine efforts from freedom-loving citizens around the globe. In the near future we 'll be moving on to a generally more powerful platform so that Saharareporters can dispense news reports without let or hindrance, adopting safe and secure platforms for doing so.

We must warn in advance that we cannot predict what may happen to our website and persons as we take on more powerful enemies of our people, but we will continue to take solace in the time -tested saying by Arthur Schopenhauer, that : "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident".
It has taken this long to return back online because of a desire to safeguard our database, which was the original target of the attack on us. The database is safe, secured and well protected.

Let's continue to promise that we will be hitting hard and strong on the frontline as Nigeria wobbles through another transition period in which buccaneers, butchers, boogiemen and bestial warlords are set to rig themselves upon our collective integrity, humanity and dignity in 2007.

AT Saharareporters WE will play our part in bringing all of our readers unadulterated news, reports and documentation that will continue to shed light on the darker CORNERS of governance in our home country-NIGERIA AND THE REST OF AFRICA, as for the hackers, be aware that nothing can stop the news reports whose time has come.

History will absolve us!
