Should illegal immigrants get a driver's licence?

Should people who broke the law and jumped over people from other countries waiting for visa be given a drivers licence.
I know if Nigeria was next to USA, we are still gonna have the same problems.
In Atlanta if you get into an accident with a Mexican, there is a good chance they will take off and they are not only taking the adults jobs away, but the kids can't even get a summer jobs anymore.

I'm curious...how do illegal immigrants acquire driving licences other than illegally? Is there a way of them legitimately getting a driving licence?

i think that they should have a license.. It would be a lot easier to track these people down...in cali... get hit by a mexican and he'soff to TJ in a flash....and that's it...if they can somehow be tracked it would curb a lot of crime and other things...of course a more complex system has to be set up for this to work.

as for immigrants getting the "kids" summer jobs....I see it like this...for whatever reason these people risk their lives to come here and work jobs that the average american will simply not do

That one about "immigrants taking our jobs" is such a myth. In the majority of cases, immigrants will do the jobs that most nationals, even those who have been long-term unemployed, will not do.

How can you guarantee that, if you give illegal immigrants driving licences, you will actually catch the right person? I'm sure that something like that can be open to abuse. Maybe get them to pay higher insurance (if you can get them to do that at all)?

It's not right cause just as "Lee of ATL" said, there are others that have been here for years legally, that don't have their papers yet, and are still waiting, so, it's not fair.

It's ONLY in America that this thing should even be an issue. In Europe, you do only one thing to the illegal immigrants - DEPORT them...they are law breakers.

Deporting Spanish illegals esp Mexicans and Cubans is not something that's done publicly. It's not publicized on t.v. anymore like it used to before. It's b/c these ppl have grown so large and powerful in the last 15 years that everyone esp the Bushes treat immigration with kid gloves.

Both brothers have wives of Mexican descent. Miami is the most important city in Florida and Cubans have complete control of it. Both whites and blacks must go thru the Cubans to get anything done in that city. Oh, and they're almost all Republican. Within the next 30yrs Texas, New Mex, Califor, Oregon, Arizon, Nevada, etc are going to be 30-40% Hispanic

Hispanics also have the highest birth rate in this country. So rather than fight joining the fight in this uphill battle, like a born businesswoman I intend to capitalize on the situation. I'm going to start learning Spanish...ha haa..(who woulda thunk it). I want everyone to come into my business and feel completely at home and I know it'll take my being able to communicate well in Spanish to do that.

So now I'm gonna have 3 languages under my belt...Igbo, Spanish, and English! Wow.

The best way to lose sight of focus in this country is to become a chronic complainer. Regardless of how much they complain about immigrants doing or taking this and that, Americans have a special kind of respect for someone who went from something to nothing thru honest means. Money is the most important thing to them while morals and values come in second, somewhere.

They might have little regard for your country, culture, language, etc but as long as you or your ppl are able to focus and tap into this special thing called the American Dream when you come here they can't deny you the respect due b/c they know it didn't come cheap. Noone said hey you, take all that you can set your eyes on.

I pick my battles wisely. There has to be a concrete reason why I'm getting involved in something that requires a lot of energy. kpam, that's me.

On a serious note, all of what you have said above are very true and that is the reality of the American society. Many of them hate the immigrants (especially them white folks as if they aren't decendants of immigrants themselves) but grudgingly respect you when they see you rise like the Pheonix from its ashes in their midst

A lot of the Mexicans walked in or came through the tunnels for free or you can say drove their cars in, but Africans, Asians have to look for thousand plus before coming here, so the playing field is not level.

Everybody better start learning spanish ASAP or you will be out of your job and you wont be able to find one.

Lee, that's true but it's not their fault that we lived a thousand miles away.

I think right now the new Spanish immigrants occupy a certain niche like working in Chinese fastfood restaurants and nail shops, etc. these are 2 places i never thought i'd see ppl who weren't Asian. Well, guess what...?
Granted, our children will face competition with their children but they'll also compete with other types of children.

And the govt is about to do anything forceful to try to control it b/c the situation in this country now is a bit fragile with the wars going on and the bad economy. They need the help of South America to control terrorists from getting too close and they also know that cheap labor helps keep food, service, and other things affordable for the average person.

Trust me they've done all the calculations on paper and they know what's involved. They can't afford to throw sand in anyone's face, especially right now.
